Colorado WUI Assessment Mapping Project - CO
Summary: The Colorado WUI Assessment Map is the final product of a statewide ranking of wildfire risk using variables for Hazard -- from lightning strikes, roads and railways, Risk -- from topography, aspect and vegetative fuels, and Value -- housing density. The map was a joint effort of CSFS, US Forest Service, BLM, National Park Service and other cooperators.

Colorado State Forest Service NFP Success Stories -- Mitigation Projects, 2001-2002 - CO
Summary: Colorado Satate Forest Service (CSFS) focused its efforts in fiscal years 2001 and 2002 on creating programs to reduce fuel loads in WUI areas and assessing and mapping risk. Fuel Mitigation projects funded by the National Fire Plan are described here.

Colorado Springs, CO - Firewise Website Features Home Risk Assessments - CO
Summary: The City of Colorado Springs has a 45 square mile interface zone, and has inspected each home in the WUI for wildfire risk. Assessment values and information on reducing risk for each parcel is available on the Colorado Springs Fire Department's website.

Colorado Wildland Fire Geospatial Support Center - CO
Summary: The Colorado Wildland Fire Geospatial Support Center is a centralized effort for data collection and mapping efforts in Colorado. By pooling the resources of CSFS, US Forest Service, and BLM, duplication of effort is avoided, and the newest and best GIS data is available to all users for wildfire planning and suppression.

Colorado BLM National Fire Plan - CO
Summary: Colorado BLM strives to meet the intent of the National Fire Plan through cooperation and collaboration with state, local, associations and the general public. A $9 million budget in 2001 and a $13.4 million budget in 2002 has allowed for many accomplishments including an increase in capability to better manage wildfires and reduce risk to communities in the WUI.
