To reduce congestion in an emergency the subdivision is undertaking a thinning program in 17 key areas identified for mitigation through a risk assessment study. Additionally the subdivision offers educational defensible space seminars to its residents and an annual "Slash Week."

Summary: Colorado State Forest Service provides outreach and technical assistance on wildfire control to all areas of the state through its 17 dstrict offices. Mitigation activities include creating a statewide Hazard Risk Map, fire mitigation education programs, and overseeing National Fire Plan grant projects.

State Farm Home Inspection Program -

Summary: State Farm Insurance Company is implementing a new program to address the increased risk of wildfire in WUI areas in six states � Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming. The program involves the inspection of 22,000 homes over the next threes years to identify fire hazards. Inspectors will access wildfire risk and report to homeowners the steps they must take to ensure coverage is maintained.
