The Timber Ridge subdivision is a FIREWISE Community/USA pilot participant. The Homeowners' Association has held FIREWISE meetings for residents, community planners and the media to address wildfire issues and mitigation measures. The Homeowners' Association has also appointed members to establish a FIREWISE Committee. The committee has distributed letters to homeowners inviting inspections by the Prescott Fire Department and FIREWISE Communities/USA program brochures. As of October 2001, 54 of 370 homeowners had signed up for evaluations. The Prescott vegetation management crew has conducted two weekend neighborhood fuels reduction projects and treated comon areas in the subdivision. A neighborhood pine needle cleanup day was held in December 2001.
Future projects include:
- annual spring cleanup days by residents with chippers provided
- lots will be treated to serve as demonstrations of "before and "after" cleanup
- and signage indicating fire resistance will be provided to homeowners that have conducted FIREWISE practices.
