Program Description: |
Grant Creek, a community near Missoula, MT, organized a self-help project to reduce hazardous fuels around their homes in 2001. The project was spear-headed by the Missoula County Fire Protection Association. The residents cut, thinned and pruned, creating defensible space in their neighborhood, and debris was chipped on-site. Funding was provided through the National Fire Plan.
